Neighbor's tree dropped another two branches, one taking out their power lines and the other on ours again. Two trees blew over behind us landing on garages and houses. Neighbors are under contract to have it removed.

About a half inch in the rain guage.

Holy smokes, did you see that Velocity Radar signature? K-Rob had it up on 5 and no doubt it was a strong tornado. This one could've been really bad.

That is awesome Eric, .90" two day total here . Would be nice to get another round Frid3ay .

Radar estimate 2 day total. Pretty accurate for mby and looks about right for what has been reported in the Cbus central Ohio areas

Event Total for me is 0.46" Probably won't see much of anything today. Friday is our next likely day lingering into Sat morning. Then we're done until Tues of next week for the next chance.

Good Morning Les and the forecast looks great. Checked with a neighbor and we were just 1/10 of an inch off so the 3 inches take a 1/10 or so is what I got for the entire day yesterday. Love the topography map from Bgoney and it does a pretty good job with rainfall totals for a wide area but again it will miss in some areas like mine yesterday. I live in western Kenton county and you start to see elevation starting to go higher as you move west to east. Many times I have been hammered with rain that is way off what other folks have seen and again with certain patterns I get no rain while others get some. I know elevation plays a part with totals but to me the elevation rise is not that great to give this localized area these much higher amounts. Again most events pretty close to what CVG gets which makes sense but these rather strong events my area tends to get hit harder for some reason. I was watching the radar yesterday and you could see where a heavy band was near Edgewood and seem to last for a longer period of time. Also the wind gusts were pretty steady between 40 and 50 though we had about a 3 minute period where no doubt it was above 60 and you could tell afterwards with all the limbs and leaves scattered everywhere. I still have enough wood to have one more fire and I may do that Saturday night depending on the wind condition.

Good morning Tim! We got much less in the way of rainfall here then surrounding areas but it's enough to green the lawn back up. If we can get another round on Friday, we'll be fine for a while in terms of drought concerns. Garden plants and flowers are doing great! Probably one of my better seasons. :) Hopefully, this is the new pattern for July, a splash of heat and some good MCS action!

Hey Les and yes gardens have done well as we had plenty of rain and some nice warmth early. I know much of the power outages in N,Ky were just to my northwest so this tells me some of the heaviest part of the storm in N.Ky was near me and though I lost power for a short time I got lucky and ended up with the very heavy rainfall. This was the kind of rainfall where your lawn goes from light brown to green overnight. This was a heavy rainfall but nothing like we had several weeks ago when the sewers were so full the water was up above the sewer line and water was pouring out into the lawn.

Probably straight line wind damage mixed in along with tornado damage throughout Northern clermont

I checked with my Brother in Day Heights and the worst of it just missed his area to the NE, closer to where 131 and 28 come together, which is near Goshen (I think lol)

We had the lights flicker a few times, but luckily it stayed on. It went out the day before yesterday for about 5 seconds, just enough to screw the old school clocks up.

From what I have seen on TV that looks to be the case. The video from Goshen no doubt has the look of tornado damage. I believe the NWS heads out today and we get a report from them rather quickly. Very few people hurt and that is the main take away from this system. Once we get into July tornado's are less likely to happen and even yesterday not everything was lining up for a tornado but again mother nature has the last say.

The boys posted this last night:

Code: Select all

Public Information Statement
National Weather Service Wilmington OH
611 PM EDT Wed Jul 6 2022

...PRELIMINARY STORM SURVEY SCHEDULED FOR THURSDAY MORNING FOR
NORTHERN CLERMONT COUNTY OHIO...

Due to recent severe weather across our area, the National
Weather Service office in Wilmington OH will conduct a storm
survey Thursday July 7th in northern Clermont County Ohio. The
survey is in relation to the severe thunderstorms that moved
through the area on July 6th 2022.

Based on radar data and initial images from around the Goshen
area, it is believed a tornado was responsible for at least some
of the damage. The National Weather Service is working with
Clermont County Emergency Management in relation to this planned
survey.

A final assessment including results of the survey are expected
to be completed and transmitted via a Public Information Statement
by Thursday evening.

The storm survey information will also be available on our
website at http://www.weather.gov/iln

Good and bad news about the strong ridge that given us a few very hot days. That is expected to work its way west and set up shop out there for a period of time. Good for us as we should have temps much nicer and some chances of rainfall. Bad news out there as a long term drought is still going on and this will just add to that dry area. Also later in July and August we start to see the southwest monsoon rains and will this be hampered by the ridging out there. I am not sure how that plays out and yes the rains usually arrive there even with some nice ridging but my guess the exact placement will have a lot to say about the amount of rainfall.
