Not a bad Wed with the rain leaving the area. Not expecting a whole lot now until Fri afternoon and esp by the evening hours and NYD itself. Very wet looking time frame. I like the 1-2" call for rain for most folks.

Tri-state is under a marginal risk for severe wx Fri night along with heavy rainfall likely. Hvy rain also likely esp Sat morning as well. Still like 1-2". Someone could see 3"+ but I cannot pinpoint that at this time.

The coldest I could find in North Dakota was -27 and sure there were outlying area of -30. Thought we may get to -40 but the pattern is rather progressive at the moment. Even with no cross polar flow you can get rather cold by laying down some snow cover and grabbing a piece of the cold that is in western and central Canada. Also,the warm surge in Alaska helped move out some of that cold further east and that is why you saw the panhandle of Alaska get rather cold. Next week we will rebound some but not expecting anything like this past couple of weeks so many days in the low 40's and hopefully some decent winter weather late in the week or next weekend.

Going to grill some Wisc cheddar dogs tonight for supper and brisket on the smoker tomorrow. Good way to end 2021 since the weather hasn't helped us out much.

That sounds great. I've got venison cheddar bratts in freezer I need to get out and eat. Sounds like a wet one coming. Heading to NE Ark to duck hunt the 8th of Jan. It's been dry down there.

We're dry right now and also tomorrow so a short window to grill / smoke in comfort. Hope to see something for you to report on from the wood pile come January.

Another round of record lows were set & tied yesterday on 12/27:

Sea-Tac AP: 17°; old record 20° in 1968
NWS Seattle: 17°; old record 23° in 1968
Bellingham: 7°; ties old record 7° in 1968
Hoquiam: 21°; old record 25° in 1978

Alaska

Nome airport Tuesday evening max wind gust of 70mph (61 knots) is the evidently the highest wind speed there since 71 mph (62knots) on Dec 29, 1977. Home weather stations observed gusts as high as 83 mph. Sig damage in/around Nome.

Had a successful infusion this morning.

Currently 36 here in G'ville and progged to hold steady at around 38 for Thurs morning.

Since the Omicron 'bite', I've been out of the loop re any accurate rain amt in my gauge from the latest system yesterday.

Hope you had a very nice Christmas and are healthy as we enter 2022.

Please keep my folks and I in your prayers, bro, as dad and I have been doing battle with the Omicron bug. Dad had a monoclonal antibody infusion last week and I had one this morning which will help to keep the symptoms mild and not reach hospital criteria level.

Thankfully, mom has remained Covid-free!

Let's hope it works then. Waiting on the pavement to dry up . If I am going to get them washed don't want road grime on them right away.
