Re: February 2024 Weather Discussion

Best time for Ham Radio. Both as a communication and contesting tool. Solar eclipses are well known to do weird things in regards to radio, and the ability for signals in different parts of the radio spectrum to act very differently than it usually does any other day of the year. Not exactly sure wh...

Re: January 2024 Weather Discussion

I doubt it will improve any. Drizzle and light rain isn’t going to help any. It was definitely a bright morning making emergency responses in the fog.

If you thought people’s brights were bad, we definitely put that to shame

12z HRRR is less bullish on the warm temps getting in here quick. Here is the last frame of that. 18z HRRR should be interesting. The stuff into SE IN looks bad.

2” on the ground here so far. Even the main roads on the Westside are rough.

Drive home from work at 7:00 was fine, just take your time.

Glad all the schools are closed and most of the colleges and universities are closed until late morning.

Re: January 18-19th Accumulating Snow Threat

I do not think ILN will wait until late afternoon to upgrade the rest of the area to a winter weather advisory. At least they shouldn't if they are wanting to inform the public in a timely manner. Only a few hours remaining until this event begins. CVG area we are hitting low-end warning criteria, ...

At least stand up the advisory. Just shortsightedness all the way around. When people ignore what is said, we will all understand why.

Re: January 18-19th Accumulating Snow Threat

Euro and GFS are in line with 2.4 and 2.6 in the Metro. GFS tries to give more across the state, while Euro says about 2.5 for everyone.

I like this, where we are at least getting close. See what the NAM does today. See if it gets on board, or continues with its own mind.

I would agree. I have no idea what the actual percentage is, but it seems like it’s about 1% of the time, where we get the perfect phase and get a dumping of snow.
