Re: January 18-19th Accumulating Snow Threat

I do not think ILN will wait until late afternoon to upgrade the rest of the area to a winter weather advisory. At least they shouldn't if they are wanting to inform the public in a timely manner. Only a few hours remaining until this event begins.

Re: January 18-19th Accumulating Snow Threat

It looks to me like the Nam and the HRRR keep the low stronger as it moves into Kentucky and West Virginia. The global models transfer the energy to the coast quicker and therefore the low is much weaker as it heads up into Kentucky and West Virginia. If we don't want dry slotted we need the global ...

I guess having a surprise overachiever is out of the question! :rollingred: That's why they're overachievers. No one knows it's coming.   For us down here in No Man's Land, we have to avoid the dry slot or there will be no overachieving. Outside of the Cincy Metro... the rest of ...

SPC Meso Page this afternoon is showing a 1030 MB arctic high to our south which has provided the dry weather and some sunshine today. High clouds are already coming in from the West ahead of this system and will continue to do so. Meanwhile, the first piece of energy is a weak 1006 MB low dropping...

2-3 inches by most models on today's runs. 1-3 is a safe forecast.

Not bad. The Euro doesn't have that dry slot as much as the other models. Today's 12z runs will hopefully bring clarity. Although I'm not counting on it.

Models have underestimated this storm all along the way though Areas farther to the north keep getting more snow ...

Good morning all! 9 degrees at CVG this morning. Same with my hood. Picked up another good covering today. We'll see how much CVG picked up once the 5pm climate report comes out. Thru 1/13/24. we had 1" on the season officially which is the 8th least snowiest season to date. We've got some wor...

It's a shame we couldn't get a phase or the main piece... the trough couldn't sharp up about 6-12 hours faster. It would have been a hum dinger of a snow storm for us! Hopefully we can manage and inch or two out of the deal to whiten things up! Swing and a miss from the 18Z RGEM. Can we call it a f...

Re: Southern OV Snowstorm? Jan 15-16

Actually, 12z Euro gives CVG 0.05" of QPF Mon night so with ratios maybe an inch of snow. The Euro is really close to putting more moisture down in the Ohio Valley. It's trying but won't pull the trigger. It's a step in the right direction. Still 3 days away. The trends today have been in the ...
