Re: June 2024 Weather Discussion

Taking a peak at the new 12Z GFS run and it'll be a 50 / 50 chance for rain on Sunday with a weak cold front. Tues afternoon, next week, a small chance exists with the passage of a warm front. Then again on Wed / Wed night with the passage of a stronger cold front which should give us a few days br...

Re: June 2024 Weather Discussion

Good morning all! 50 as of 4am at CVG 48 currently here. Soak it up because those darn 90s are coming! The only threat for rain is a dying front on Friday so that won't pan out very much for many people. Otherwise, lovely weather today, Wed won't be too bad either. The heat starts to turn on as wel...

Re: June 2024 Weather Discussion

Good morning Tim! I agree with your post 100%. Today is absolutely a perfect day esp. in June. It's just a shame that I can't enjoy it until after work. Lot of model disagreement for next week. Even in the extended as the EPS is more aggressive with the heat versus the "cooler" GEFS...

Re: June 2024 Weather Discussion

0Z GEFS shows the core of the heat to our West after mid month so we'd be more susceptible to ridge riders or MCS's dropping in from the NW. The 0Z EPS has more of the ridge orientated from west to east and the vast majority of the country will be very warm to hot and that includes us so a much dri...

Re: June 2024 Weather Discussion

Ouch, the extended GFS is looking hotter and hotter, the 594 looks to be building in big time! :o I saw that in a couple of runs last week too. We'll just have to wait and see if we are on the edge of the heat (hope and pray LOL) or if the ridge builds in a little more like on the current GFS run. ...

Les, I've noticed this bow on radar that's west of Bowling Green KY moving NE but may just affect northern KY in a few hours unless we can get some further development in southern IN?

Re: May 2024 Weather Discussion

I sure hope the 6Z GFS is wrong with regards to the upcoming weekend. Rain chances both days from a slow moving low pressure system is being shown. :( Also, didn't want to get ahead of myself here, but after that it looks rather active again for next week which would take us into Memorial day weeke...

Re: May 2024 Weather Discussion

12Z NAM clips our SW counties with some of the heavier convection but otherwise the rest of it is south of us. Some nice trends so far today folks if the data is correct . Good, this means that I can take a long nap afterwork and not worry about tornado sirens going off and no alerts coming from my...

Re: Earthquake and Volcano activity

I experienced this one first hand. I could feel and hear it for I would say about 15 seconds. I was inside at the time and at first thought it was probably a airliner passing over fairly low or something. the one last Friday was the strongest I have ever felt. Wow! Did you see anything moving / sha...

Re: April 2024 Weather Discussion

Also... I looked at the raw text data from the 12Z GFS and looking at CVG.... if you add up the QPF being shown by the model from now thru 5/5, it is a measly 0.77" This is typically our wettest time of the year. Not good IMO.... That model always wants to fool us towards the end of the run sh...

Good morning all! 0.23" at CVG so far from this system. 0.21" at the Boone Co mesonet site and I have 0.24" here. Most of the rain is done minus our SE counties. Temps are around 60 this morning and will remain steady or rise into the low 60s at best today. The front will kick up the...

Here soon, once models get in that 7-10 day range, we can start tracking cloud cover and / or precip chances for the big day. We really only care about the afternoon period to be honest. I'm going to play the negative Nellie for now as the latest trends on the GFS keeps the progressive pattern with...
