I read where a man is believed dead after having been attacked by an alligator in floodwaters in Slidell, LA.

I have a 2nd cousin named Rana who resides in Slidell. Prayerfully she along with others in LA and MS are faring okay, as could be, there in those conditions.

As expected... a lot of my customers got out of dodge and evacuated to some far away places like Houston, TX or Tallahassee, FL. I know because I got a lot of calls today from folks at various hotels trying to get online to access the company's VPN.

So SPC storm reports only showing 5 tornado reports yesterday? Huh? Only one in New Jersey? I saw video of several in NJ alone. Something seems fishy about this! Anyone else think this is strange? Maybe there is just a delay in storm reports or waiting on surveys, but with the high population in this area you would think they would have been inundated with reports.

I thought there were tornadoes in PA, NJ, and MD from what I've gathered. There could be a delay in the data. That wouldn't surprise me. NWS Storm Damage surveys may not occur for a while if some of these areas are flooded out. Only rational guess that I can come up with.

Even Cape Cod got an EF0 Tornado from Ida. Cape Cod! Tornadoes have to be so rare there due to their proximity to the cooler ocean waters.

Yeah this storm will definitely go into the history books - from the catastrophic damage in LA/MS to the widespread floods and tornadoes in the Northeast and Mid Atlantic. Will be interested to hear the final damage figures - I am certain it will be astronomical!

I fully expect Ida to be retired at some point and a new "I" name to go back into circulation. That would make a total of 10 "I" retired storms I believe. Pretty amazing!
