I agree 100p/c. The dew points are in the 50's well south of us as well so a strong push of moisture is unlikely. Tornado watches and warnings further to the northwest near Chicago where the low pressure is heading but so far not much in the way of activity in southern Illinois and southern Indiana. The cap is slowly being eaten away but much slower than models have shown. The dry line is something you want to see if tornado's is what you want to see but first the storms must fire up and as of 830pm not much on radar except a few showers trying to form well west of here.

We have a strong south wind and that has been the case all day but that air is rather cool even in the Tn Valley and northern Gulf states.

Still need to watch over the next few hours to see if anything begins to pop.

Quick update from the boys as of 3:25am:

.NEAR TERM /UNTIL 6 PM THIS EVENING/...
Potent cold front trailing Michigan low pressure is approaching
the ILN area. It is still likely that severe weather will
develop this morning given the strong wind fields and ample
instability ahead of the front. Convection is filling in along
the front, and tornado watch 27 remains in effect through 6am.
Damaging straight line winds, large hail, isolated tornadoes and
torrential downpours leading to flooding all remain possible. A
few tornado and severe thunderstorm warnings have been issued
to our west, and as convection reaches our western counties, we
are beginning to issue some warnings in our area as well.

Since precip to the west is expanding, categorical pops still
seem appropriate for this morning. Some locations may measure
over an inch of rainfall, even with this fast moving system.
Dry weather will move in this afternoon as subsidence arrives on
a west wind behind the cold front. Those synoptic scale winds
are likely to gust over 30 knots. Holding off on a wind advisory
for now since it appears strongest gusts will stay north of the
area. Temperatures are forecast to plummet from the 50s and 60s
into the 30s this afternoon as the colder air rushes in.

Good Morning and so far just a few flashes of lightning in the past 10 minutes or so. Hoping for more rain but the front is moving fast. I know my son in Wausau had 68 degrees yesterday and overnight rain switched to snow and current 10 degrees with a wind chill of -8.

I have seen a few snow showers on the back side of the precip shield in Southern / Eastern ILL as well as SE MO. So don't be shocked if you see a flake or two this afternoon even around here. Precip so far at CVG is 0.14" with a peak wind gust of 41 mph.
