Most likely and since we get warm so quickly here, that is why I start mine in the Fall then it resumes growing once the ground warms up in March or April. Last winter was so mild that it grew a little bit at times during Jan and Feb.

Before progress, back when Boone Co was more rural, we used to pick wild blackberries as kids and my Mom would make a pie out of it. Good stuff!

I still have cabbage plants with heads the size of a softballs, and the lettuce plants are putting out new leaves. I never covered anything when we had few colder temps. If I could get more sun late fall , the garden would definitely be rockin

Wow! That is pretty incredible to have going what you have going in late December.

Lawn is starting to green up nicely now and my spinach is doing good. If we don't see a cool down soon, we'll be mowing in March this year. I try and hold off until April a lot of years but 2024 could be different.

Another season upon us . Been building a new cold frame to start some early veggies shortly . Already started some lettuce and cabbage plant seeds indoors and they’re up. Going to start some bunching onions in the next day or so . I’m ready to get busy and out of another boring winter.

Redbuds, viburnum, crab apples among trees and shrubs blooming currently. Don’t expect the current cold spell and predicted temps near freezing to harm anything.

Edit: forecast now calling for lows to get into the 20’s Saturday , that’s a different story and some damage can occur

I am going to harvest some spinach, first of the season, this Friday! Leaves are getting almost big enough to cut. I'll set out the chive pot probably in a couple more weeks.

I'm probably going to cut the rest of my spinach this week as those 5 days in a row of 80 we went thru, have caused the plants to go to seed a little bit early. Almost time to get my bean seeds sowed once we get past this (I hope) last frost threat Thurs morning.
