Just dropping a note to all of you that there is a software update available. I will be installing it sometime within the next 1.5 weeks. I do night time installs so that as few members are affected as possible. I will post an update here, as well as send out a mass email as soon as I know for sure when I will be applying the update. Right now, I am aiming for next Wed. (3/10/10) at 11:59 PM. This date is preliminary and may be moved forward (with Monday 3/08/10 being the earliest) or backward.

I am pushing the date back to Friday (03/12/10) at 11:59 PM. I picked up a full 40-hour week at work over Spring Break, so I will actually have to go to bed this week As the date approaches, you will be reminded in this thread, and a mass email will be sent.

I sure hope that update can help improve AV's server speed ...both Wed. AM and this morning I've noticed it being quite slow. Wed. AM seemed a bit worse though ...almost like being on dial-up at times

The vendor must have had an issue going on this morning, agree with Eric, we're running smoothly again.

I am going ahead with tonight for the update.

The update will not bring any major performance increases. Most slow downs we have are some issue or another from BlueHost. The majority of them will just slow for a few seconds, as they give processor time to the other accounts on our server.

I do have some database maintenance to do in the near future that may increase the speed slightly, but it should just maintain the speed more than it will improve it.

WOW! That was arguably the best update I have ever had to do. For once the automatic update feature worked, and I didn't have to manually edit any files (I always have to do at least 3 manual edits!). The update went so quick that I was able to get in the database optimization as well. I am enabling the forum again as I type this. Total downtime: 13 minutes.
